National Conference
The 2020 National Conference has been canceled due to the COVID-19 crisis.
About the National Level
The SkillsUSA Championships is the showcase for the best career and technical students in the nation. Contests begin locally and continue through the state and national levels.
Nationals is a multi-million dollar event that occupies a space equivalent to 16 football fields. In 2018, there were nearly 6,000 contestants in 98 separate events. Nearly 1,500 judges and contest organizers from labor and management make the national event possible.
The philosophy of the Championships is to reward students for excellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employers’ needs.
In addition to competing, you have the opportunity to go sight-seeing and have fun. Skills USA provides you with tickets to attend different places in the city. For example, zoo and theme park tickets.
If you competed in the last National Conference and would like to know your score, find it HERE.
2020 Nationals Conference
While this years national conference was canceled, there is still a way to compete.

SkillsUSA members can compete in a national contest without going to the national conference. We understand that all of our schools are out now but students, even graduate students, can compete as long as they where paid SkillsUSA members this past school year (2019-2020 school year). Over $20,000 in prizes will be given to the top three placing students. Please let Ray Jensen, our state director, or you advisor know if you have any questions.

Congratulations to Derek Lewis for receiving the only Mike Rowe travel scholarship in the state of Alaska.
Highlights
World Skills
At opening ceremony, the WorldSkills USA team was introduced. Part of the team is Jorydn Baker, the winner of the 2016 Commercial Baking competition. Jordan graduated from King Career Center in Anchorage, Alaska before competing in Skills USA. Her advisor who helped her reach this point, is Kellie Puff who has been bringing students to nationals for five years. Jordyn is now attending the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena California. On October 14, 2017, the WorldSkills team will be heading to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, to compete to become one of the top in the world. Wish Jordyn and the rest of the WorldSkills USA team luck for this amazing opportunity. Jordyn meet up with some of the Alaska delegates to catch up and give some advice to this years Commercial Baking contestant.
2016 Nationals Conference
National Skills USA has officially ended. Alaska received gold medals in both firefighting and commercial baking. The last time that anyone from Alaska earned a gold medal was a very long time ago. And this year we received two. Some of the competitions were scored in the littlest things because so many people got right around the same score. This means that the difference in points between first and last place, could be just a few points. Below are the placements and percentages of all Alaska Skills students.
